How Long You Are Without the Door
Willow Park sits about 7 miles from our shop in Weatherford, which is close enough that an opener swap is almost always a single trip, start to finish, in one visit. That matters because most of the town's houses went up around 2002, and a lot of those original chain-drive units are hitting the point where the logic board or the drive gear gives out with no warning - usually mid-lift, with the car in the garage and the door hanging open. On a job that close, we're not building in a second trip for a part we didn't bring; we know roughly what's on these houses before we knock. The short drive also means less dead time between the call and the truck showing up, since we're not routing through to get to you.
Where the wait comes in is parts. If you want a specific brand or a battery-backup model that isn't standard stock, that's an order-in item, and we'll tell you the lead time before we book the date rather than after.
Getting It Booked In
Because Willow Park is one of the closer towns we cover - nearer than or any of the towns past the 10-mile mark - we can usually fit an install without stacking it behind a longer haul job. The houses here cluster tightly around a 2002 build year, so once we know the address is in Willow Park, we've got a good guess at bracket spacing, header clearance, and whether the door is insulated steel or the lighter panel common on homes of that era. That cuts down the back-and-forth on measurements before the visit.
We still ask the same three things every time: the door's weight class, whether you want a keypad or app-based opener, and whether there's a dedicated outlet in the garage ceiling area, since some 2002-era garages weren't wired with one and that changes the job.
What the Repair Takes
A straight opener swap on a 2002-era single door usually means pulling the old motor head and rail, mounting the new head, running a new rail to the same header bracket if it's still sound, and rewiring the wall control and safety sensors. If the house has the original bracket and the header is solid wood in good shape, that part goes fast. If the header's been chewed up by years of vibration from the old chain drive, we replace the mounting block before we hang anything new on it - skipping that step is how an opener works loose in six months.
What this doesn't cover: any door panel, track, or spring work. If the door itself is sagging, off its rollers, or the springs are shot, that's a separate job we'll quote separately, because bolting a new opener to a door that isn't moving right just transfers the strain onto the new motor.
The Complications

That's not a deal-breaker, but it can mean an added outlet if you want a battery-backup model, and we'll flag that cost before the day of install, not during it.
The other complication is door weight. Insulated steel doors from this era run heavier than the plain steel doors common on older stock elsewhere in the region, and a half-horsepower unit that would be fine on a lighter door can strain and burn out early here. We size the opener to the door, not the other way around.
